A day to remember

So awhile back my mom told me of a day   When all us kids and grandkids were together and she stood back and wanted really hard to remember that day forever.... Today was one of those days! I told my children the nursing home might be difficult, that they'd be the highlight of the residents day, that if they couldn't understand them just smile and nod. To just smile and nod was not in their little innocent, hold no judgement, love without fear, compassionate bodies!! Merritt briskly and boldly walked from bed to bed passing out sodas. Render leaned on bedsides to ask "coke or sprite" and cheerfully waved a hand on the way out the door with a "take care." Gaitz shook hands and leaned in to hear better. Sibley shyly passed out drinks and answered inquiring questions, which is truly difficult with her reserved personality.
Esme, Ella, jack, and Titus all carried sodas, lovingly touched the residents, complimented and laughed with them... Beautiful! These kids know how to love!!!
The smile on the lady's face when Esme sweetly said "your hat is very beautiful" was priceless.
The moment that brought tears was watching a resident with crippled hands try to take a coke from render. It seemed like minutes as she struggled to grab it between her two wrist and I thought he'd get impatient and just lay it down but instead he stood stock still with a loving handsome grin on his lips until the receiving was successful. I'm not even sure words were ever exchanged but i have no doubt .... Love was!
